Wrapped up two days of training at Colorado Public Radio.  Things went pretty well, a few software bugs notwithstanding, and I love the staff at CPR.

They put me up at a Drury Inn, which is basically a Hampton Inn without HiltonHonors points and free booze in the evenings and a better breakfast.  Skip the pizza in the evenings, but make sure you get your three free drinks before heading up to your room during happy hour.  This hotel chain also scores bonus points for an hour’s free long distance every night and free wired & wireless internet that actually works.  It’s a total road warrior hotel, which is perfect for me.

Speaking of happy hours, I met the lovely Karen Fiftyone downtown for happy hour yesterday and while I didn’t drink my weight in gin & tonics, it sure felt like it.  Drinks were 2 for 1 before 7, so the bartender offered to make mine doubles.  Wheee!  The last time I was this buzzed meeting a Fool was the lovely Pipney Jane in London.  Karen is an absolutely fascinating person, but I won’t spill any details as to preserve her reputation as an online woman of mystery.  Thankfully, she offered to hang out at the bar with me until I was in a state where I could drive home, and I had a great time talking about anything and pretty much everything.  Thanks, Karen.

The traffic really blows here, but they do have light rail, and it does run fairly late.  Next happy hour, I’m taking the train. Next time I’m in Colorado, though, I’d like to either do some rafting in the summer or some skiing in the winter.  (I haven’t skiied since college, but the best lessons I ever had were at Purgatory.)

I must be turning into a total biking geek.  My first thought heading out of the hotel this morning was “Wow, if I had my bike on this trip, I could ride some actual hills.”

I double-booked myself for the first time on this trip.  Turns out they were also expecting me in Myrtle Beach yesterday.  That is now scheduled for Monday – Thursday next week.  Then I might actually stay home for a little while.

Back home Saturday morning!
